Worthy of it All

“On a hill You created the light of the world, abandoned in darkness to die.”

(So Will I by Hillsong United)

The lyrics of this song, a sweet reflection of the stirring of my heart in sitting with who God is in His totality. As I begin to open my heart to a greater understanding of the God I serve, I realize how much of His grandeur, His majesty, is so mysterious. Unable to fully comprehend, in the current view from which I gaze upon Him from.

‘...Where were you when I created the earth?

Tell me, since you know so much!

Who decided on its size? Certainly you’ll know that!

Who came up with the blueprints and measurements?

How was its foundation poured,

and who set the cornerstone,

While the morning stars sang in chorus

and all the angels shouted praise?

And who took charge of the ocean

when it gushed forth like a baby from the womb?

That was me! I wrapped it in soft clouds,

and tucked it in safely at night.

Then I made a playpen for it,

a strong playpen so it couldn’t run loose,

And said, ‘Stay here, this is your place.

Your wild tantrums are confined to this place.’

-Job 38:11 msg

These verses in Job where God speaks, where He reminds Job Who He is, His high position over all creation, His grandeur, His authority, His majestic and mysterious stature….these verses beckon us to see God for fully who He is, and to place us in a humbled state of who we are.

This alone would make Him worthy of all our lives, for He is the very one that breathed our existence into place.

“On a hill You created...” As in the song lyric.

He knew the height of that Hill, He molded the shape, He chose its placement on the Earth, all while doing this knowing it would be the very Hill He would send HIs son to hang on cross. You see this grand and magnificent God is also so intimate, tender, and caring. Coming to the very world He created to save it.

“...The light of the world. Abandoned in darkness to die”

Dipping down to the intricate parts of our personal lives on Earth and reaching in with His very hand. He weaves His love, His plan, His purpose and allows us to be a vessel to put His very majestic and glorious status on display for the here and now. The God who knows more, sees more, holds more, understands more than we'll ever be able to comprehend.

This is the God who then steps into our very lives.

This is the God who gave His very son for us.

Then that very son chose to sacrifice His life for us.

Then that same God turned back around and sent us the power we find in the Holy Spirit.

So why is He worthy of our all our lives? It is written over and over in every page of who God is. The aspects that make Him larger than life are held simultaneously with the aspects of His intimate presence in our current lives.

This is why He is worthy of it all.

This is why no matter what is given, what is taken, what is restored, what is broken. He will always be worthy of our whole heart. And from where I am in my relationship with Him today, the gaze in which I can see Him. I can truly say I never felt more seen, more understood, more secure than by the God I call both majestic and a good shepherd.

Love,

Amy
