Brooke has been deeply impacted by the James 1:27 call to care for widows and orphans since her early twenties. These sovereign foundations were laid before she became a widow at the age of thirty-four, which then formed the mission of Songs in the Night.

Brooke is mom to one precious little boy. She loves reading, good music, and coffee. She and her son together enjoy Star Wars, board games, camping, reading, and puzzles.

Brooke has a Master of Arts degree from Asbury Theological Seminary in Biblical and Theological Foundations.

Psalm 40:2 “He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.”

Amy has always had a heart and desire to serve the Lord in areas where people find themselves in pain, trials and suffering. She has always longed to serve, love and advocate for the marginalized communities. She has been able to do this both through working as a children’s therapist and social worker.

Through the loss of her late husband, Amy found a new passion and stirring from Christ to love and serve widows. The Lord has opened opportunities for her to love, serve, and walk alongside widows. She is a leader with Songs in the Night Ministry through leadership care and development.

Amy currently lives in Tucson, Arizona with her husband and their blended family of five. Amy enjoys reading, writing, dancing, outdoor recreation, laughing and being with her family and friends and going deep with others.

Jodi has spent the last 20 years serving and discipling those with learning differences and the people who care for them. Though daily struggles and challenges have not been foreign territory, becoming a widow at age 49 was a different world. By the sovereignty of God, Jodi's journey towards healing and her budding passion for widow's ministry was confirmed after meeting Brooke and hearing about Songs in the Night.

Jodi, who lives in Texas, is mom to three grown children who love the Lord. She enjoys cooking for others, watching movies and doing puzzles with her son who has autism, walking, and being at Camp and retreats.

Psalm 63:6, 7 "Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me."

Heather married the love of her life, and God blessed them with a son after years of waiting. Her husband was diagnosed with cancer when their baby was 6 months old, and then passed away two years later. Heather immediately sought young widow community but couldn’t find any locally. That’s when she came across Songs in the Night, which was pivotal in her healing journey. She is passionate about helping young widows, has completed School of Ministry, and started a widow group at her church in California.

Heather loves CrossFit, traveling, and watching her son play sports. She teaches elementary school, but her favorite job is being a mom. Getting to watch how God is so close to her son’s heart has been an honor and gift from Heaven.

Ephesians 3:20 “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.”

Kelsey is so thankful for the ministry of Songs in the Night and all the ways it has drawn her closer to the Lord and brought her an incredible community of widows. Getting to love on and encourage other widows has brought so much joy to her in her own journey of grief and losing her sweet husband, Alex to cancer.

Kelsey is a mom to a precious 5 year old boy named Ezra. Together they love to go hiking, build magna tile cities, go camping, and play soccer. When she’s not being a mama she is coaching high school cheer and planning weddings!

Kelsey has clung to the truths in 2 Corinthians 4 that we are afflicted in every way but not crushed, perplexed but not driven to despair, persecuted but not forsaken, struck down but not destroyed so we do not lose heart! This light and momentary affliction is preparing us for eternity and glory beyond all comparison! For the things that are seen are transient but the things that are unseen are eternal. Praise the Lord for his goodness to us and his promise of eternal life with Him!

Carly’s life turned upside down when her first husband, Austin, was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer at the age of 26. He passed away 3 years later, and despite an amazing support system of friends and family, she didn’t realize how healing it would be to have community with other young widows until she went on a Crowned for Ashes retreat. Since then, she has yearned to use her pain for God’s good purpose, and she stepped into a role leading a group of seven other young widows in February 2023.

Carly remarried in 2020, and lives in Colorado with her husband Bryce, their young son, Miles, and their two dogs. She loves riding (and racing) bikes, skiing, hiking, and generally doing anything outdoors.

Isaiah 40:31 “They who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.”

Beth Anne lives with her daughter Emmy in Georgia. She enjoys spending her time outdoors hiking and running long distance, as well as spending time with friends hosting game nights! Beth Anne and Emmy love going to the park on the weekends, teaching Emmy new games, and watching baseball and college football together!

Beth Anne has been involved with Songs In The Night for a couple of years and it has greatly impacted her grief journey! She started out in a long term discipleship group with Brooke and later got the opportunity to lead a HOPE Group. God has used these opportunities to pull her heart towards Widow Ministry and she is honored to be a discipleship group leader as well.

Romans 8:37-39 has really encouraged her in her walk with the Lord since becoming a widow. The hope over darkness that these verses has given her has brought on a new meaning as she’s walked this path. “No, in all things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present not things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Kecia Green became a widow at the tender age of 37, as she was married to her best friend for 4 years before he was called home to be with our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in 2023. Although this loss has bent her, it did not break her. She is learning to embrace the life that God has given her, understanding that the grief that she has could not be possible if God didn’t give her the gift of love. She is on a mission to finish well and to grieve faithfully, while helping other women cling to the only hope that they have, which is God.

The verse that she clings to is Job 1:20-22 “Then Job arose and tore his robe and shaved his head and fell on the ground and worshiped. And he said, ‘Naked I came from my mother's womb, and naked shall I return. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.’ In all this Job did not sin or charge God with wrong.”

Rachael has beautifully enough stayed in touch with Songs in the Night after being on the receiving side of the blessing of a care crate just five months after her husband, Paul’s, home-going. After the love felt and relationships built through the wreckage of loss God put ministry on her heart to serve and give back in whatever capacity Jesus allowed.

At home she is a full time Momma of 8 and certified “Chaos Wrangler” as she homeschools her crew and loves them through their loss of Mommy and Daddy.

She serves in local ministry with her husband, Caleb, who also has endured by God’s grace the loss of his first wife, Erin.

Her desire is to be available and willing to serve the Lord through widows ministry in whatever capacity God has for her. Currently she is leading a long term discipleship group and has also led Hope Group as a part of the discipleship opportunities SITN provides.

A verse that has stood with her through this journey has been… “Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” Isaiah 43:19

Leah is passionate about walking alongside those who are suffering and have experienced loss. Her husband, Adrian, battled brain cancer for nearly six years, undergoing multiple treatments and surgeries before passing away at the age of 36.

The impact of the Songs in the Night community has been profound for Leah. From receiving a Care Crate to joining and eventually co-leading Hope Groups, she has found a deep sense of belonging and purpose here. Leah has a passion for supporting others who are also experiencing suffering. Helping others recognize and appreciate the Lord's care and compassion in their own stories is a strong motivator for her. She desires to see widows know God's Word and faithfully serve in their local churches.

Leah currently resides in New Orleans with her Goldendoodle, Mack Frazier. She enjoys running her favorite routes around the bayou and in City Park. Beignets, breakfast at Toast, and tacos are the way to her heart, and she will be the first to share how her local church has supported her in the years since Adrian's death. Leah holds a Master of Divinity degree from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.

"Lord, your word is forever; it is firmly fixed in heaven. Your faithfulness is for all generations; you established the earth and it stands firm. Your judgments stand firm today, for all things are your servants. If your instruction had not been my delight, I would have died in my affliction. I will never forget your precepts, for you have given me life through them." Psalm 119: 89-93

Melody became a widow at 36, when her husband Jason unexpectedly died by suicide. A few months after her husband died she received a Songs in the Night Care Crate and was connected with the founder, Brooke. Being connected with another young widow, who was clinging to Jesus, significantly impacted her grief journey. 

She became passionate about how to point her kids and other grieving children to Jesus. In 2019 she created the Hope for Kids scripture cards for her children and began sending them out to other widows through the Songs in the Night Care Crates. She later joined a Hope Group and long term discipleship group. 

Melody is passionate about helping other widows, and ultimately their children, have a safe community to be encouraged to surrender and trust Jesus with their pain. Allowing Him to guide their steps forward. She found that once she did this her healing journey, true joy in the midst of the pain was found, and stewarding her kids’ hearts was possible. She has grasped a newfound understanding and love for the sovereignty of God.

Melody lives in Jacksonville, Fl with her two children. She is a physical therapist and when not serving her patients you will find her at her kids’ swim meets, dance recitals, or music lessons. A passage of scripture that she has clung to is Lamentations 3:20-25:

“My soul continually remembers it and is bowed down within me. But this I call to mind and therefore I have hope: The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. The Lord is my portion says my soul, Therefore I will hope in him. The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him.”

Becky lives in Sheffield, a city in the north of England with her daughter, Lucy, where she works as a private client lawyer.

Becky was widowed 17 years ago, very suddenly, when she was 6 months pregnant. She is passionate about loving the broken hearted and the truth that whilst no one promises us a life without loss and pain and suffering God promises to never leaves us and he never asks us to do it alone - we are meant to do life together, in community, in the good times and the dark, painful, messy times too.

Becky loves to read, to spend time with friends, to walk and to do circuit classes with Lucy.

Exodus 14:14 “The Lord will fight for you, you need only to be still.”

Elise Boros received a Songs in the Night Care Crate just weeks after her beloved husband died in December 2020. The following year, she was desperate for a community who could understand her grief. Joining a Songs in the Night Discipleship Group transformed her grief journey and provided the community she longed for.

Elise’s days are spent in college ministry near Washington, D.C. and in raising her elementary aged son. She loves dark coffee, long walks, good books and deep conversations about God, widowhood and grief.

Her favorite Bible verse during this season of life is “I cling to you; your right hand upholds me” (Psalm 63:8).

Annie lives in Durham, NC with her three daughters. She is currently in seminary studying church history.
